Turning 30

I turned 30 on January 15th. I usually start celebrating right after Christmas and continue through Valentine's Day. Saying that my priorities have changed might be the understatement of my thirtieth year. :) I always imagined I have a big party with everyone I know invited, but after we finally got pregnant and then Rider and Josie got here I barely remembered that I usually have a "birthday month".

We DID celebrate, and we had a few "birthday dinners". The first one was on my actual birthday which was also, at the time, the coldest day of the year. Mia stayed with Rider and Josie, and Jeff and I went to dinner and a movie.

Many of you have heard this story, but I feel like I need to record it for posterity. ;) Jeff made reservations a McGill's in Tulsa. I very rarely order appetizers at "nice restaurants" because I always eat so fast and drink so much pop that I don't really get to enjoy my entree. Since I am still nursing two babies, I have been eating like a man. We ordered an appetizer that we didn't completely finish, but it was outstanding. I did have two wonderful pieces of bread that slowed me down a little. I ordered the special--steak and lobster tail. The steak was wrapped in bacon, and it was served with new potatoes and asparagus. (I have to insert here that asparagus might be my least favorite vegetable.) I ATE EVERY SINGLE BITE OF FOOD except the bacon the steak was wrapped in! THEN I ordered a dessert! I only ate about 3/4 of my piece of cheesecake, I probably could have finished it, but I thought I would stop before it was too late.

I have never enjoyed food as much as I did on my 30th birthday. The food was wonderful, I was able to eat it all, AND I didn't at all over eat! I was so PUMPED, and I am sure you can tell in this post that I talked and talked and talked about that meal for the next two weeks. I couldn't tell that story without someone laughing at my enthusiasm.

I think Jeff enjoyed his meal too, but he didn't eat as much as I did. He had Alaskan crab legs and they were as thick as my arm. I had a couple of bites of his as well, but I was nice enough to trade a bite of lobster. ;) We had a wonderful time and actually got to visit with each other. We kept thinking we were missing something since there were no babies crying and we didn't have arms full of stuff or babies.

We didn't take any pictures of ourselves that day, but we should have because I had on real clothes and fixed my hair and put on make-up! The picture above was taken of Rider and Josie on my birthday. I hate posting another picture of an angry Josie, so I am going to explain. I had tried two other times to take their picture in their SUPER CUTE Nike outfits. (Thank you Emily and Scott!) Rider spit up all over his the first 5 minutes they had them on--NO picture. The second time they wore them Rider had a diaper leak as I was getting my camera--NO picture. This is the third time they had worn the outfit and Josie was sitting in her own poop and it was ALL OVER the back of her outfit! SO SAD, but I gave up and took the picture just so I could have one. I am going to continue to try to catch them both happy before Rider out grows it.

Happy 30th Birthday... a few months ago! I understand your excitement about McGills! Chris and I have been for a couple of Anniversaries including this past one! WE LOVE IT!! I'm not a lobster person, but they have a lobster cream pasta that's to die for! Never tried the crab legs...might have to go that route next time since I don't like steak either...but I am a fan of crab. The kiddos are so cute!
